Community Support Flourishes in University Place  – Local Company Makes a Big Difference

University Place, WA: After seeing a story about Community Connection Place in a local paper, a business owner was inspired to help. The donations committee at Northwest Cascade, Inc. contacted Community Connection Place with the news that they would donate $25,000 this year. The recipient of the donation is the nonprofit operator of the Senior/Community Center in University Place. The local group took over operations through a lease agreement with the City of University Place in January, after the city ended their recreation and senior programs at the end of 2016.

Amanda Ellis, who serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors, was delighted with the news, saying, “It’s hard to describe the emotion of first reading the email from the team at Northwest Cascade. It was so generous and unexpected. Individuals in our community are stepping up in big ways to help sustain the Senior/Community Center. They are allowing us to fulfill our vision of community and build for the future. It’s beyond inspiring and we are so grateful for their support.” The Community Connection Place Board of Directors are very excited and thankful to the owner, President, and committee of Northwest Cascade, Inc. for their generous donation.
